Alan Hamel career
From 1961 to 1964, Hamel co-hosted the Canadian children’s television program Razzle Dazzle. The discussion show featured Howard the talking turtle.
He hosted two syndicated game shows in the late 1960s that were broadcast on all ABC-owned and -operated TV stations as well as others. He initially met Suzanne Somers on the set of Anniversary Game in 1969, and they subsequently were married in 1977.
He was the host of the well-liked daytime discussion show The Alan Hamel Show on CTV in the late 1970s. He was regarded as “Canada’s top TV talk show host” by People magazine.
He hosted the disastrous People television series on CBS for a short period of time in 1978. The Alan Thicke Show was launched in 1980 after fellow Canadian Hamel stepped down as host.
