On the final day of the Premier League season, as City romped to victory over Brighton and Hove Albion, sealing back-to-back league titles and the second of Laporte’s career, he scored a vital goal as he finished the season with five goals. He played for 4,352 minutes in all.

On August 31, 2019, Laporte suffered a right knee injury that necessitated a stretcher to remove him from the scene. Surgery was performed on him in September 2019.

Up until a bad performance in a 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on November 21, 2020, Laporte had been a certain starter for Manchester City following his injury comeback throughout the 2019–20 season and through the opening of the 2020–21 season.
