Jeremy Corbyn wife-British politician, Jeremy Bernard Corbyn was born on May 26th, 1949 in Chippenham, Wiltshire in the United Kingdom.

Before enrolling as a day student at the Adams Grammar School in Newport, Shropshire, at the age of 11, Corbyn attended Castle House School, an independent preparatory school close by.

Corbyn was involved in the League Against Cruel Sports, the local Labor Party, and the Wrekin constituency Young Socialists while he was still in school. At the age of 16, he joined the Labor Party. Before leaving school at age 18, he earned two A-Levels at grade E, the lowest possible passing mark.

While still in school, Corbyn joined the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) and went on to serve as one of its three vice chairman before being elected vice president. He also ran an anti-Vietnam War campaign around this period.

Upon graduation, Corbyn spent a short time working as a correspondent for the Newport and Market Drayton Advertiser. He served in Jamaica for two years as a volunteer youth worker and geography teacher when he was just 19 years old.

Then, in 1969 and 1970, he made his way through South America, stopping in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile. He took part in a student protest against the Brazilian military dictatorship in So Paulo while he was there.

In Santiago, where he also participated in a May Day march, the mood around Salvador Allende’s Popular Unity coalition, which triumphed in the Chilean elections of 1970, left an influence on him.

Jeremy Corbyn career

He was elected to the Haringey Council in 1974, where he served until becoming Secretary of the Hornsey Constituency Labour Party in 1983. He has been re-elected to the position nine times.

His involvement has included participation in organizations such as Anti-Fascist Action, the Anti-Apartheid Movement, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, and the promotion of a united Ireland and the establishment of a Palestine state.

As a backbencher, Corbyn regularly dissented from the Labor Party’s platform, notably throughout the tenures of the Tony Blair and Gordon Brown New Labor governments.

He was an outspoken opponent of the Iraq War and served as the chairman of the Stop the War Coalition from 2011 to 2015, during which time he was honored with the Gandhi International Peace Award. In 2017, he also got the Seán MacBride Peace Prize.

Studies of Corbyn’s domestic media coverage have revealed that it is often negative or adversarial. Although criticizing antisemitism, Corbyn has been linked to those who have been charged with the crime in the past.

An antisemitic investigation by the Equality and Human Rights Commission determined that the Labour Party, under his leadership, had engaged in illegal harassment and discrimination.

In 2015, Corbyn won the position of Labour Party leader. Both during and after his election as leader, the party’s membership shot up significantly.

He favored renationalizing public utilities and railroads, a less aggressive military strategy, and the rollback of austerity measures that had been taken to cut back on welfare and public services. He also took the party to the left. Notwithstanding his criticism of the EU, he voted yes in the 2016 referendum to retain the country’s membership.

Once the Brexit debate in Parliament came to a standstill in 2019, Corbyn supported calling a referendum on the separation deal while maintaining his own personal neutrality.

Labour lost 202 seats in the general election of 2019, its fewest since 1935, as a result of a decline in its vote share to 32%.

In October 2020, Corbyn was expelled from the Labour Party for claiming that the antisemitism inside the party had been exaggerated for political purposes.

A month later, when Corbyn received a formal warning from the party’s disciplinary committee, the membership suspension was removed; nevertheless, the Labour leadership chose not to reinstate the whip, thus excluding Corbyn from the parliamentary party.

The national executive committee of Labour decided in March 2023 not to support Corbyn’s candidacy in the next general election.

Corbyn has been married three times and divorced twice with his first two wives. He married Jane Chapman, a fellow Labor councilor for Haringey who is currently a lecturer at the University of Lincoln, in 1974. The two separated in 1979.

Corbyn and Labor MP Diane Abbott had a short romance in the late 1970s. He married Claudia Bracchitta, a Chilean expatriate and the granddaughter of Ricardo Bracchitta, in 1987. They are the parents of three kids. He was giving a speech to National Union of Public Workers members at the same hospital when his youngest kid was born, so he missed it.

They separated in 1999 after two years of separation due to a disagreement over whether to send their kid to a grammar school and Corbyn is against selective education, notwithstanding his claim in June 2015 that they now “get along quite well.”

Corbyn traveled to Mexico in 2012 to marry his Mexican girlfriend Laura Alvarez, who owns a fair trade coffee import company that has generated some controversy.
