Peter Bol siblings-Australian middle-center runner, Peter Bol was born on February 22nd, 1994 in Khartoum, Sudan.

Bol was born to Abdalla Mador Bol and Hanan Kuku. He shares the same parents with his five siblings; a sister and his four brothers.

His father comes from the region that is now South Sudan, and his mother is from Sudan. When he was four years old, his family fled the Sudanese civil war.

It was incorrectly claimed in 2016 that they spent four years living in a refugee camp in Egypt before moving to Australia. Despite what some people have said and written, Bol stated in August 2021’s issue of The West Australian that “we never lived in a refugee camp.”

Media Watch claims that a 2016 piece in The Sydney Morning Herald is where the incorrect information first appeared. Bol came in Toowoomba, Queensland, at the age of eight. He was raised in Perth and received a basketball scholarship to attend St. Norbert College.

He earned a construction management degree from Curtin University in 2017. He intended to begin engineering school in 2021.

Peter Bol career

Bol played basketball in Perth, Western Australia, and showed promise. After a successful cross-country race when he was 16 years old, a teacher at St. Norbert College advised him to attempt 800 m running.

With a personal best time of 1:48.90, Bol won the junior men’s 800 m at the Australian Athletics Championships in 2013. He relocated from Perth to Melbourne in December 2015 to train with coach Justin Rinaldi, who also trained Alexander Rowe, the co-holder of the national record.

He achieved two Olympic qualifying performances in 2016 (1:45.78 and 1:45.41), and as a result, he was chosen for the Australian Olympic team. He placed sixth in his heat at the Olympics in 1:49.36. He placed sixth in his heat at the 2017 IAAF World Championships in 1:49.65.

He beat training partner Joseph Deng with a time of 1:44.56 in the 800 meters at an IAAF competition in Stockholm, Sweden in June 2018.

With a personal best time of 1:44:11, Bol won his semi-final at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Then, in the final, he took part and finished fourth, 0.53 of a second short of a bronze medal.

Bol achieved a faster time in his heat than the winner, Emmanuel Korir, who finished in 1:45.06.

In June 2022 at the Paris Diamond League, he set a new record for Oceania and Australia with a time of 1:44.00. He has already decreased the 800-meter national record three times.
